Kevin Grow had a wish…

… to play basketball.

He is a lifelong fan of the professional basketball team, the Philadelphia 76ers, and was looking forward to seeing the Harlem Globetrotters when they came to Philadelphia.  He had gotten tickets for the Globetrotter game for his birthday.

Kevin served as the team manager for the basketball team at his high school for four years and as a senior, the coach was able to put him in the second to last and last game of the year.  The videos below tell the rest of the story…

 

But that’s not the end of Kevin Grow’s basketball story…

The Philadelphia 76ers heard about Kevin’s video and decided to offer him a 2 day player contract.  He got to practice with the team, he had his own locker in their locker room and he had his own uniform to wear.  He was introduced with the team at their recent game and you will see in the video below, he enjoyed every minute.

As if signing a contract with the 76ers was not enough, Kevin was featured in a segment on ESPN’s SportsCenter TV program !

But even THAT’s not the end of the
Kevin Grow basketball story…

The Harlem Globetrotters signed him to play for them the next time they were in Philadelphia, making Kevin Grow one of only two players who have every been under contract with the Philadelphia 76er’s and the Harlem Globetrotters. (The other guy was someone name “Wilt Chamberlain”.) Below is some video from Kevin’s experience with the Harlem Globetrotters…

 

Kevin Grow, without know it, had been a WishBuilder.  He had a clear goal, “play basketball” (step 1), and he focused on it for as long as it took  (step 2) and continued to do “whatever it takes” (step 3) for more than 4 years.  The fact that his wish came true should not really be a surprise.  It should be a wake up call for the rest of us who don’t even have a wish or who gave up too soon.  What is your wish?  When are you going to start building it?
