{"id":113,"date":"2014-12-16T17:14:14","date_gmt":"2014-12-16T17:14:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thewishbuilder.com\/blog\/?p=113"},"modified":"2014-12-16T17:44:48","modified_gmt":"2014-12-16T17:44:48","slug":"2015-training-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/thewishbuilder.com\/blog\/2015-training-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"Looking forward to 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>2014 is pretty much &#8220;in the books&#8221; and while there were lots of great things that happened, I did not make the progress that I wanted towards completion of my first Ironman Triathlon.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, I haven&#8217;t run for weeks now which is not a good sign. \u00a0OK, I&#8217;ve done some aggressive yardwork that might be considered &#8220;cross training&#8221; but nothing that helped that much in the Ironman department.<\/p>\n<h2>2015 will be different.<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thewishbuilder.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/1305sixmonthstoironman-740.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-114\" alt=\"6 month Ironman Training Plan\" src=\"http:\/\/thewishbuilder.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/1305sixmonthstoironman-740-300x150.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"http:\/\/thewishbuilder.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/1305sixmonthstoironman-740-300x150.jpg 300w, http:\/\/thewishbuilder.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/1305sixmonthstoironman-740.jpg 740w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>For one thing, my financial situation will be changing. \u00a0I have a number of different &#8220;opportunities&#8221; or changes of direction which should make it easier financially and consequently easier to find time to train for an Ironman. \u00a0If 2014 taught me anything it is that I need to rearrange my business life!<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve also signed up for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clubct.org\/Buildup\/BosBuild.html\" target=\"_blank\">Boston Buildup Series<\/a> which is a series of races which go from 10K to 25K over the course of a couple months in increments of 5K per race. \u00a0I&#8217;ve done them in the past and while some of the winter races are VERY COLD, I&#8217;ve found that having a race on my schedule makes me much more likely to do the runs to support them.<\/p>\n<h2>2015 Training Plan (so far):<\/h2>\n<h4>Sunday Long Runs&#8230;<\/h4>\n<p><em>This page will be updated as the plan comes together&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Dec. 21 &#8211; local long run &#8211; 4 mile loop (or 5K race?)<\/p>\n<p>Dec. 28 local long run &#8211; 6 mile loop<\/p>\n<p>Jan. \u00a04th Boston Buildup Series &#8211; 10K, Norwalk, CT<\/p>\n<p>Jan. 11th<\/p>\n<p>Jan. 18th\u00a0Boston Buildup Series &#8211; 15K, Ridgefield, CT<\/p>\n<p>Jan. 25th<\/p>\n<p>Feb. \u00a01st<\/p>\n<p>Feb. 8th \u00a0Boston Buildup Series &#8211; 20K, Fairfield, CT<\/p>\n<p>Feb. 15th<\/p>\n<p>Feb. 22nd<\/p>\n<p>Mar. 1 \u00a0Boston Buildup Series &#8211; 25K, Norwalk, CT<\/p>\n<p>Mar. 8th<\/p>\n<p>Mar. 15th<\/p>\n<p>Mar. 22nd<\/p>\n<p>Mar. 29th Danbury Half Marathon (13.1 miles), Danbury, CT<\/p>\n<p>Apr. 5th<\/p>\n<p>Apr. 12th<\/p>\n<p>Apr. 19th<\/p>\n<p>Apr. 26th<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">May 3rd, Redding Half Marathon, Redding, CT<\/span><\/p>\n<p>May 10th,<\/p>\n<p>May 17th,<\/p>\n<p>May 24th,<\/p>\n<p>May 31st<\/p>\n<p>Jun 7th,<\/p>\n<p>Jun 14th<\/p>\n<p>Jun 21st<\/p>\n<p>Jun 28th,<\/p>\n<p>Jul 5th,<\/p>\n<p>Jul 12th,<\/p>\n<p>Jul 19th,<\/p>\n<p>Jul 26th,<\/p>\n<p>Aug 2nd<\/p>\n<p>Aug 9th,<\/p>\n<p>Aug 16th,<\/p>\n<p>Aug 23rd,<\/p>\n<p>Aug 30th,<\/p>\n<p>Sep 6th,<\/p>\n<p>Sep 13th<\/p>\n<p>Sep 20th<\/p>\n<p>Sep 27th<\/p>\n<p>Oct 4th<\/p>\n<p>Oct 11th<\/p>\n<p>Oct 18th<\/p>\n<p>Oct 25th<\/p>\n<p>Nov 1st<\/p>\n<p>Nov 8th<\/p>\n<p>Nov 15th<\/p>\n<p>Nov 22nd<\/p>\n<p>Nov 29th<\/p>\n<p>Dec<\/p>\n<p>Dec<\/p>\n<p>Dec<\/p>\n<p>Dec<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I also found this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ironman.com\/triathlon\/news\/articles\/2013\/05\/six-months-to-ironman-a-basic-training-program.aspx#axzz3LyfxazYm\" target=\"_blank\">6 month training schedule<\/a> for my first Ironman race and my plan is to sign up for a race this year, complete at least one (maybe two) marathons this year and prepare for the BIG race in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Wish me luck !<\/p>\n<h2>What do you have planned for 2015 athletically (or otherwise)?<\/h2>\n<p>I would love to hear what you have planned as well as any ideas you might have that could &#8220;kick me in the butt&#8221; a little bit. \u00a0I&#8217;m happy to hold you accountable to your goals as well&#8230; just leave them in the comments below !<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2014 is pretty much &#8220;in the books&#8221; and while there were lots of great things that happened, I did not make the progress that I wanted towards completion of my first Ironman Triathlon.
